Respecting the question; not really its Greek Food. Note the use of olive oil is prevalent in most dishes, however is typically NOT heated which would convert it to trans fats. Perhaps that's why history of heart disease is low amongst the Greek population?
Talked to them and they said everything is halal except pork.
Sorry you will have to line up like everyone else....
It's better to make a reservation.
You'd have to contact the restaurant directly for reservations, they may not see it right away on here.
You can ask for a box yes

There's street parking. If you're fortunate to snatch a free spot, there are a few parking spaces at the back of the restaurant.
Calamari was fantastic, roast lamb was good and the portion was large to bad the potatoes were under cooked...boarder line hard and rice was a little under as well.
Good homestyle Greek food on Davie St that has been here for years. Everything tasted fresh and yummy as if you are eating at a cafe in Athens. The highlight was the lamb platter and was quite tender (it fell off the bone easily and cleanly). The chicken souvlakia platter was yummy as well.
We were there on a Thursday, still packed with customers at 9:30 PM. Lamb Souvlaki was great, really enjoyed it. We also ordered Moussaka which wasn’t what I expected. Would definitely go there again and try other mouthwatering foods. The waitress and the host were really nice. Although it was their closing time and they were definitely exhausted, they were smiling all the time. Overall a good experience, good food and portion size, great cozy atmosphere, music and reasonable prices. Would recommend trying this place.
Their price is pretty good for their portions. I got the lamb souvlakia and it came with a massive amount of pilaf rice, some veggies, a lamb skewer and the best tzatziki I’ve ever had for $12.20 (tax included). They also had complimentary pita which was nice. Their food was delicious and the service was fast and great. It’s a nice quiet restaurant and I would return again for sure.
Love the food and love the staff. Always a good time here. Not the cleanest place, but willing to overlook it all for the overall experience.
It has gone down hill since the new owners took over. The garlic sauce isn't as tasty, the bread was cold when it arrived, the calamari was greasy and if they chunked the Greek salad any bigger they might as well just plop a tomato, 1/2 a cucumber and pepper on my plate and call it a salad. I will give them another try but if it's no better it will be my last visit. Sad because I love this restaurant and have been there many times with friends. Nothing lasts forever I guess....
Amazing food! The waiters/waitresses were very kind and friendly, the vibe of the restaurant was very cozy. The lamb souvlaki was a chewy but all was well. I highly recommend the calamari dinner! it was so crispy and I preferred it over the lamb. Overall a great place to eat lunch/dinner with your family!
Kind of disappointed given the great reviews below. Ordered take away from Davie location (maybe it’s better in house?), super reasonable pricing. Small lamb souvlaki and marinated octopus appetizer. The appetizer was inedible, as though it had gone bad. The souvlaki was so tough because it had been overcooked like chewing gum. The salad was 2 pieces of cucumber and a tomato with tonnes of onion. Tzatziki and bread were delicious. Uncertain if I want to give it ago again.
Good simple Greek food. Patios always full
This old Greek restaurant is great for food lovers. It takes you back to the sixties or seventies (not accurate) but yeah, the ambience is old and elegant. The service is good and the food was great. We enjoyed the steak and lamb grill. I recommend this for people who like to go for a weekend retro hangout.
Great portion...wanted dessert but main course roast lamb was filling & delicious..2 beers and roast lamb platter =$50Wonderful server from Ireland !!
The calamari platter was tasty and the lamb steak with rice was excellent..all they need is a makeover of the place..rest all is fine..clean and well maintained..
My favorite place when I crave lamb and lemon potatoes. Good portions for a fair price, but get their a bit early on weekend, there is often a long lineup.
I heard great reviews from friends so I needed to try this place. The food was excellent and the restaurant lived up to the hype. It's a great family restaurant and gets very busy but it's worth the wait.
Amazing Greek restaurant! Service was great and the food was even better. Got seated right away and the food came very quickly as well. The chicken souvlaki tasted great and the roast lamb was fall off the bone delicious! Would recommend this place to others!
With this pandemic going on there nothing to do then order take out. Today I went and got 2 chicken souvlaki, when I got home one of them was missing the chicken. I called and right away Jimmy (the front counter person) got on the problem right away. He said don’t worry he will make it right and will deliver a new one to my house which was really nice of him cause I live in Burnaby. Definite 5 stars for going about and beyond for making their customers happy
The roast lamb portion has gotten smaller and price gone up but still very tasty. The staff ask formtios here which was rude. And they are rude at times. Not sure if they are still like that as I haven't been back k in years I go to the Robin location bow. Better service.
Well what can I say the portion is super huge! The service was fast too
Still a yummy Greek restaurant after all these years. The mountain of Calamari in the dinner entree is still one of my favorites. The roast lamb never a disappointment every single time. Tender and falls off the bone. Friendly staff. Great service. Lovely Greek atmosphere in the restaurant. This is the original location and is still my favorite one of the 2 in downtown Vancouver.
Don’t go there in rush hours. You may not get a good service. But, the food is good. I liked their lamb food.
ROBSON LOTION:Yesterday April 19, 2020 around 5:30pm i ordered 2 of calamari platter, 2 roast lamb platter and 1 side of calamari appetizer via phone and got my order #43 to pick up these at the store and paid the amount of $89plus with the tip on it. Honestly, i was so excited to get into the store and get back home with those orders. Surprisingly , when i started eating my calamari i was kinda 😒😒😒😒😒 disappointed with the calamari taste and the quality of the food. Even the roast lamb was not good. This was not the same taste and good food that i have knew from this restaurant. In fact, I am a regular customer and i know that i knew what's really the taste of this calamari. The calamari was dry and its like chewing gum. The whole calamari was tasteless and the onion, bell paper was cooked. I'm so disappointed.
The food is no more the same. I am sure that the good cook is gone. No more the very good test. I was disappointed.
The food is so delicious . The place is so good. The price is awesome. This restaurant always is crowded.
Very friendly service. Big portions - good value for money. Tried roast lamb and spare ribs, both very juicy and tender - must try!
Great price. Large portions. Delicious!
This is just the very best food ever!!! EVERY SINGLE DISH! I can’t stress enough the amazing, fresh, deliciousness of literally everything on the menu! We are repeat patrons from California and have tried most dishes on their amazing menu! Every single person should visit this restaurant at least once...you’ll find a way to come back again and again! The vibe here is just so friendly and relaxing.
The food was good, but the service was not good. Even not busy time but I did too much waited on entrance. and she did not come to check a single time while eating. even She didn't fill up the water. So I felt she doesn't wanna come over we're table. so I had to go to the counter to get my bill. If the Boss confirms this review, it is necessary to properly educate the service.
A lot of food for the money, flavourful with pretty presentation. Great atmosphere but wasn’t busy so surprised it took long for the food to arrive. The cheese balls were great, worth the visit alone.
One of the best place to get a great greek meal, decent price and a very good portion, ambience is good.
This place is always my go to for Greek food cravings. The roast lamb is super tender and the calamari is refreshing. The side dishes are always good. Good staff. 👍🏽
This is one of the most famous spots in all of Vancouver, known for its very generous potion. While I do find the food to be on the oily side, I do enjoy much of the food on the menu. Both of the main lamb dishes it offers are very good, but the roast lamb is amazing, as the meat just falls off the bone. The skewers are all very good too, but I would avoid the kalamaria. The last time I ordered it, the squids are overdone, so they are small, dry and crunchy, with no taste whatsoever. This place is also known for its long, long lines, but if you go at off-hours, it is not that busy.
Weren't too many people when we arrived. Came here on a friend's suggestion to try out the clams, which was absolutely delicious, especially the sauce. I almost drank the sauce like a soup. We also ordered lamb chops and lasagna and both dishes were solid. The servers were very nice and attentive. Would definitely go back for the clams lol.
The food wasn't tasty at all. Portion was average but the rice was very sticky and tasteless. Overall below average experience
First, the positives: The decor was lovely, the service was prompt, and the location is hard to beat. But alas, the list ends there. The food, generally speaking, tasted as though it came pre-packaged or frozen, heated, and served. The calamari was small and soggy, the feta was flaked, the chicken souvlaki flavorless, the tzatziki grainy, and my friend's moussaka "unsatisfying" in her words. Anyway, you get the point, the food was very disappointing.
We ordered the lamb souvlaki pita which comes with fries and the lamb souvlaki plate which comes with pilaf and a small salad. We also got the saganaki for appetizer.I liked the saganaki, the lamb souvlaki was ok, I had eaten a Stepho's before and I recall liking it better. We sat outside, which was really nice on a sunny day.
A Vancouver classic. Generous portions huge servings, classic Greek food. Sometimes gets really busy on the weekends but the roast lamb and calamari are some of the best in town. Service is great and welcoming. Be prepared to take some home because you've eaten so much your pants are about to burst.
Loved the authentic Greek atmosphere and absolutely loved the food. We will be back. A big shout out to David who made us feel extremely welcome.
Amazing! you should order lamb! lovely staffs good food
I love this place and I took almost 8 years to visit Vancouver back just to eat their delicious food! You guys are awesome!!
We ordered in from this place and was very satisfied! The food was delivered in time! The packaging was good as well! Their portion sizing is really good! In fact two people can share one one portion and be full! Over all we enjoyed the food! Looking forward to going to the restaurant in person! Would recommend!
Packaging was paper except the desert which came in styrofoam. Huge portion sizes. Rice was short and was not my favourite style, but others may enjoy it. The peppers were fresh and dripping with juice, but not spicy. As with most Greek places, the lamb was top notch. The meals were not too greasy, the meat was tender. The desert was missing something we couldn't quite put our fingers on. Pita bread was soft and yummy. I should've got the kalamari that was not a meal (since the portion sizes of everything else was so large.) It took only ~30 minutes for them to make after we ordered.
Food was just ok. It seems there quality just keeps getting worse as the years go by. I remember 10-15 years ago and the food was awesome. Well spiced and properly cooked. Now it is bland, boring and overpriced. It is a shame. Not sure if management changed or they lost the original Chef but will not order Stephos ever again.
Amazing kalamari! Great service! Servers had a great sense of humor and the and delicious! I love their Greek potatoes and salad. Been going for 20 years. Can’t wait to go again. T B. B B b b
Not the stephos I remember. Very small lamb souvlaki skewer. Badly over salted and over cooked. Basically payed $13 for rice and a potato.
Been coming here since I was born. Great food, service and history. Do yourselves a favor a come here.
Avoid at all costs!! Food was terrible, such a waste of money .. we could not even eat the burnt potatoes with raw rice and peas. Who puts peas in Greek food?! The calamari was burnt , prawns raw with burnt tails. The tomato was rotten.. worst food ever!
Always happy to go to Stepho's the portions are always big and the price is always very reasonable. I always get the roast lamb and it is very reasonable at $16.45. Roast lamb at other restaurants is usually $18-25. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is cozy and has looked the same for a very long time but that is a nice thing. We were happy to be able to get a table for a large group and we will be back for sure.
Ordered garlic prawns and ekmek. Usually garlic prawns have a good portion of rice/salad. But it was a very small portion which was odd. The ekmek was good but seems like they forgot to add sugar to it. Hopefully next time will be better.
I am a lamb meat lover and loved visiting stephos since 10 years ago. My wife and I would always celebrate our birthdays and anniversary here. Until today, We experienced the worst lamb meat ever. The famous roast lamb was worse than oven cooked chicken breast. It was so dry that it was hard to chew. The lamb chops were so small and dry, it was so bad that I would rather have frozen ribs from costco or superstore. The servers were still kind and nice, which made our visit little better. I do not know whether it is the chef or the new owner but surely, the meats werent fresh at all and were very low quality ones. I however got a roast lamb to go for my mom, which she threw 98% of the food into the garbage bin. Waste of solid 65 dollars
All time favorite. Moved away from this negibouhood for years and this place always has a long lineup. Surprisingly, this beautiful sunny afternoon and an odd time that me and hubby decide to have a date in between lunch and dinner. The foods are just as I expected. Big portion and tasty great value. my husband has the roast lamb and I have the moussaka. Service is awesome and fast. Sangria is a little weak but hey it doesn't matter when you have great company along with beautiful weather. Life is good 👌😊
